Amelia Island Trail makes Nassau more than a beach drive

About 40 miles of casual and advanced bike trails cross Amelia Island, so riders should choose the exact segment before setting out.

Amelia Island is easy to read from a car window as beach, resort, marsh, and historic Fernandina Beach. The trail layer changes that.

The Nassau County trail directory covers about 40 miles of casual and advanced bike routes on Amelia Island. Those routes can make a short ride, a beach-area errand, or a longer island outing feel more possible. Still, a trail map is not the same as one protected path from end to end.

Check the Nassau County bike trail information before you ride. Look for segment gaps, road crossings, shade, parking, shoulder conditions, and how far you need to go before turning around. Summer heat can make a simple ride feel much longer.

For new residents, the trail is a nice clue. Nassau County is not only a drive-through to the beach. It has a growing bike and walking map that is worth learning one piece at a time.
