Florida KidCare is the child health coverage lane
One Florida KidCare application routes a child among Medicaid, MediKids, Florida Healthy Kids, and the CMS Health Plan.
Florida KidCare is the year-round door to Florida’s main health plans for children. Families do not have to pick a plan before they apply.
One form is reviewed for Medicaid, MediKids, Florida Healthy Kids, and the Children’s Medical Services Health Plan. The child’s age, household size, income, and health needs help decide the path. The plans include both medical and dental care.
Apply through Florida KidCare, then read the notice that follows. It will name the child’s plan and explain any cost. When KidCare asks for more proof, the family has 45 days to send it. Leaving that request unopened can end the application.
Keep the child’s birth date and Social Security number nearby, if one is available. Also gather income records, household details, and current insurance papers. Save each upload receipt and notice with the child’s school and health records.
If the family moves or income changes, report the new facts. Do the same when a child has special health needs. The shared form can then route the child again without the family guessing which plan fits.
