Florida marriage license starts at the clerk
A Florida marriage license can come from any county clerk and be used anywhere in the state, but its effective date, age rules, and 60-day life still matter.
A Florida wedding starts with a marriage license. The county where you apply does not lock the ceremony to that county.
You may get the license from any Florida county clerk and use it anywhere in the state. Both people give sworn facts on the form. The clerk then marks the dates when the license may be used.
Florida residents normally wait three days unless they finish an approved marriage course. The waiting period does not apply when both people live outside Florida. A county judge may also waive it for hardship when there is good cause.
The license expires 60 days after it is issued. A 17-year-old needs written consent from a parent or legal guardian, and the other person may be no more than two years older. Florida does not issue a marriage license to anyone under 17.
Use the clerkâs current page for appointments, ID, course papers, fees, payment, ceremonies, and later copies. Leave enough room on the calendar for any wait, but do not let the 60 days run out.
