Florida road test day needs the right car
A Florida Class E driving skills test can stall before it starts if the test vehicle lacks registration, insurance, or basic working equipment.
For a Florida Class E road test, bring a car with valid registration and proof of insurance. Its basic safety gear must also work. The examiner looks over the car before the drive begins.
The test will not start if the tires, brakes, lights, turn signals, mirrors, wipers, horn, doors, seats, or view from the driver’s seat fail the check. An expired registration or missing insurance card can also end the visit. The same is true for a bumper outside the legal height or a low-speed vehicle.
If the applicant still has a learner’s license, a licensed driver age 21 or older must drive the applicant to the test. Only the applicant and examiner usually ride during the test. The handbook allows an interpreter in a limited case when one is needed.
Choose the test car a few days early. Check the tag, papers, tires, lights, signals, wipers, mirrors, horn, doors, and seats. If the car is borrowed, make sure its registration and insurance card are inside. This simple check lets test day stay focused on the road instead of a missing paper or broken light.
